about the Iphone 15
Apple's iPhone 15, starting at $799, and iPhone 15 Plus, starting at $899, introduce the Dynamic Island feature previously exclusive to the iPhone 14 Pro, enhancing visibility for alerts and live activities. The display now boasts 2,000 nits of brightness in direct sunlight, twice the capability of the iPhone 14. Notably, the back glass panel is a single colored piece with a slight contour for improved grip and comfort. Color options include pink, yellow, blue, black, and green, and the phones feature increased use of recycled materials.
The main camera is upgraded to 48MP, enhancing detail and brightness, allowing for 24MP images and improved 2x zoom without compromising sharpness. Portrait mode gains post-capture editing options, focus control, smarter HDR colors, and more natural skin tones. The A16 Bionic chip from the iPhone 14 Pro powers these devices, offering enhanced CPU, GPU, and ML performance, promising all-day battery life.
The iPhone 15 Plus enjoys a longer battery life due to its larger battery. Ultra wideband capabilities are improved, offering connections from three times the distance, enabling enhanced location tracking through Find My. Call quality is improved, featuring clearer voice calls and a Voice Isolation mode to minimize external noise.
Emergency SOS via Satellite allows summoning roadside assistance (currently through AAA in the U.S.) without a cell signal, available for free for two years. The Lightning connector is replaced by USB-C for charging and data transfer, enabling charging of Apple Watch or AirPods Pro from the iPhone using a USB-C cable. Additionally, Apple introduces FineWoven accessories, replacing traditional leather offerings.
